Agreement to Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the SKILL1.ORG website and online tutoring services (the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of the terms, you may not access the Service.
Description of Service
SKILL1.ORG provides an online platform that connects students with qualified tutors for live, one-on-one educational sessions. Our services include:
- Live online tutoring sessions in various subjects
- Test preparation courses (SAT, ACT, and other standardized tests)
- Practice tests and educational resources
- Session booking and scheduling tools
- Payment processing for tutoring services
User Accounts
To use certain features of the Service, you must register for an account. When you create an account, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information
- Maintain and promptly update your account information
- Maintain the security of your password and account
- Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
We reserve the right to refuse service, terminate accounts, or remove content at our sole discretion.
Terms for Students
Booking and Payments
- All payments must be made in advance through our secure payment system
- Prices are listed in USD and are subject to change
- Purchased hours must be used within 12 months of purchase
- Unused hours may be refunded according to our refund policy
Session Conduct
- Arrive on time for scheduled sessions
- Maintain respectful communication with tutors
- Have necessary materials ready for the session
- Ensure a quiet, distraction-free learning environment
Cancellation Policy
Sessions may be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice without penalty. Late cancellations or no-shows may result in forfeiture of the session hours.
Terms for Tutors
Eligibility and Verification
- All tutors must complete our application and verification process
- Tutors must have demonstrated expertise in their subject areas
- Background checks may be required for certain tutoring positions
- Tutors are independent contractors, not employees of SKILL1.ORG
Compensation
- Tutors receive compensation based on completed sessions
- Payment schedules and rates are outlined in the tutor agreement
- SKILL1.ORG retains a platform fee from each session
- Tutors are responsible for their own tax obligations
Professional Standards
- Provide high-quality, professional tutoring services
- Maintain punctuality and reliability for scheduled sessions
- Respond to student inquiries and booking requests promptly
- Adhere to our code of conduct and ethics guidelines
Prohibited Activities
You may not use the Service to:
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Infringe on intellectual property rights of others
- Transmit harmful, offensive, or inappropriate content
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service
- Circumvent our payment system or platform fees
- Contact tutors or students outside the platform for tutoring services
- Share account credentials with others
- Use the Service for any form of cheating or academic dishonesty
- Harass, abuse, or harm other users
Intellectual Property
The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by SKILL1.ORG and are protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.
Educational materials created by tutors remain the intellectual property of the respective tutors unless otherwise agreed. Students may use materials provided during sessions for personal educational purposes only.
Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE:
- Specific educational outcomes or test score improvements
- Continuous, uninterrupted access to the Service
- The accuracy or completeness of any content
- That the Service will meet your specific requirements
While we strive to connect students with qualified tutors, we do not guarantee the quality of tutoring services and are not responsible for the actions of individual tutors.
Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SKILL1.ORG SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR USE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
Our total liability to you for any claims arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless SKILL1.ORG and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.
Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will provide at least 30 days notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion.
By continuing to access or use our Service after revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms.
